As we step into the first few days of 2014, PPI – Cyprus looks forward to an exciting and eventful year ahead! This year we look forward to inspiring PeacePlayers new and old, developing kids’ passion for the game, while providing more transformational experiences to connect with peers from across the island. Here is a glimpse into a few of the moments we are most excited for in 2014:
Hosting our friends from Norway!

Our PeacePlayers on the court in Norway. This year we look forward to hosting our Norwegian friends here in Cyprus!
This March we are looking forward to welcoming our friends from Norway who hosted our PeacePlayers’ team last April in Nesodden, Norway. We are expecting 10 Norwegian youth accompanied by 5 team mentors and trainers to join PPI-Cyprus for one week. During this week we will be hosting a retreat for our PPI leaders and Norwegian friends. The retreat will be an intensive basketball weekend coupled with training sessions focusing on sharing the power of sport. Participants will be challenged to create their own volunteer project using sport as a tool to positively influence their community. After returning to their communities they will work alongside their assigned mentors on implementing their volunteer project. Creating this connection between our friends from Norway and our PeacePlayers in Cyprus we are looking to inspire the next generation of global young leaders!
Summer Camp!
The greatest week of the year: 64 Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot participants, basketball, professional stars, new friendships, and learning to lead for peace. This years’ camp will be held July 28th through August 2nd in the mountains of Agros, Cyprus. The cornerstone of our program here in Cyprus, the summer camp of 2014 is the most anticipated event of the year.
Inspiring New Connections between Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot youth!
PPI-Cyprus participants make up the generation of upcoming leaders on the island. As such, it is essential that they are equipped to be the positive influencers the island needs. Through frequent long-term interaction PPI participants are given the opportunity to connect with peers and develop impactful friendships. In 2014 our goal at PeacePlayers is to continue to inspire deeper connections between our participants, providing them the grounds to alter not only their perceptions of one another but to alter their perception of self. Every kid that is a part of the PeacePlayers program should feel inspired that they can make a difference; they have the power to influence their life and those around them. This is the power of the little orange ball, this is the power of PeacePlayers-Cyprus!
